It seems like the release date of the long-awaited ground-breaking Nokia music service called "Comes With Music" is just around the corner. The first handset to come with one year of unlimited free access to the Nokia Music Store catalog is the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.
The first market for the new "Comes With Music" service will be the UK where Carphone Warehouse will be selling the newly styled Nokia 5310 on a pre-paid basis. Carphone Warehouse will be the exclusive retailer of the new edition of the 5310 until December 31, 2008.
You should be able to pre-order the 5310 as of today, but the handset is still nowhere to be found on Carphone website, so its pricing is unknown.
The new "Comes With Music" edition of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic is all white but offers several colored accents.
The unprecedented Nokia "Comes With Music" service was announced back in December 2007 and its launch had already been dragging behind the initial schedule.
The service allows unlimited music track downloads from the Nokia Music Store catalog for a period of one year. When the year is over you'll get to keep all the tracks, however they will be DRM protected, so you can listen to those only on your Nokia phone. In case you want to transfer them to other media, you'll have to pay for all the tracks.
Further details about "Comes With Music" should be announced at the next Nokia event, which is to be held on October 2nd, 2008, which probably means that the service won't fire up until then.
While the Nokia "Comes With Music" service sounds really sweet we can't help but wonder why the already aging Nokia 5310 is the only handset to take advantage of it instead some high-end N-series device. Only time will tell though.
